The Beach Boys
Saturday, April 1st, 2017 8:00 PM
The Beach Boys an American rock band founded in Hawthorne, California in 1961.
The group's original lineup consisted of brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and their friend Al Jardine.
Distinguished by their vocal harmonies and early surf songs, they are one of the most influential acts of the rock era.
The group, led by their principal songwriter and producer Brian, pioneered novel approaches to popular music form and production, combining their affinities for jazz-based vocal groups, 1950s rock and roll, and black R&B to create their unique sound. He later arranged his compositions for studio orchestras and explored a variety of other styles, often incorporating classical or jazz elements and unconventional recording techniques in innovative ways.

Grammy winner, Grammy nominee, mother, activist Paula Cole has released seven solo albums of original songs, spanning a 20+ year career. Cole has performed with icons in many genres of music from Peter Gabriel to Dolly Parton, Herbie Hancock to Emmylou Harris; Amy Lee of Evanescence to Burt Bacharach. Cole’s emotionally deep, thrilling performances, and her poetic, fierce and intelligent writing makes Cole a primary color against pastels. Her compositions have been covered by a diverse range of artists (Herbie Hancock, Annie Lennox, Katherine McPhee, JoJo, i.e.) and she has sold approximately 3 million albums. From the small town of Rockport, Massachusetts, Paula was raised in a musical family (her father Jim Cole was a professional bass player) with whom she and her daughter Sky remain close. Cole is a scholarship alumna from Berklee College of Music with a background in jazz, received her first record deal with a jazz label (which she declined), and has collaborated with many artists of extremely diverse backgrounds. Paula teaches and gives clinics in a spirit of giving back to the circle of music. With a loving allegiance to her fans, she maintains loyal communication online and after her live shows. As the first woman in history to solely produce and receive the best Producer Grammy nomination for her work, “This Fire”, Cole has broken boundaries with a searcher’s spirit. From her top ten hits of the 1990’s to her more recent, critically acclaimed albums, Paula Cole continues to write, produce, record and perform heartfelt, meaningful, lasting music that defies categorization.
This year Paula is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of This Fire, the double-platinum album, released on Warner Bros Records in 1996, her sophomore effort, entirely self-produced. It garnered two breakout Billboard charting hits “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?” and “I Don’t Want to Wait,” This Fire was nominated for seven awards at the 40th Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, Best Pop Album, “Where Have All The Cowboys Gone?” for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Cole was also nominated for Producer of the Year (the first woman in Grammy history to be solely nominated as Best Producer) and won the Grammy award for Best New Artist. She will be performing “This Fire” in its entirety this year at select performances.

It was in 2011 on the initiative of musical director, guitarist, and singer Damian Darlington created Brit Floyd. Darligton did this because he believed he could, "simply because he felt he could do it one better" than his previous band, The Australian Pink Floyd Show, and stating that "there is much more attention to details in every aspect of the show, from the music to the visuals to the lighting: everything is that much more perfected and there's a passion coming off that stage... It's a coherent, emotional journey through Pink Floyd's catalog."
Darlington began following Pink Floyd's work after hearing The Wall at the age of 13 and he saw the band live for the first time in 1987 during the A Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour. "Since then, he has seen the band in different incarnations, after its split, and including its 2005 reunion.

Regarding his growing up listening to the band, Darlington has said, "I definitely listened to Pink Floyd. I remember Another Brick In The Wall being No. 1 in the UK. It was December 1979. Probably my first memory of Pink Floyd. Then I actually heard The Wall album in its entirety and that's what particularly drew me to Pink Floyd at about 12 or 13. I was fascinated by the record that told a story, and all these sound effects linking songs together, and also the wonderful guitar work. I was already learning to play guitar and I wanted to learn to play some of these wonderful guitar solos. That was my introduction to Pink Floyd. I was a fan from quite an early age."

Simon Green known as Bonobo, is a British musician, producer and DJ based in Los Angeles. Green has recorded and performed solo DJ sets under the name Mr Blue and together with Robert Luis from Tru Thoughts as Nirobi and Barakas.
Migration is the sixth studio album by English DJ Bonobo. It was released on 13 January 2017.
Green's first release under the moniker Bonobo was in October 2001 with the song "Terrapin" on the Tru Thoughts compilation When Shapes Join Together. He released his debut album Animal Magic on Tru Thoughts in 2000. With this album, completely self-produced and self-instrumented, he became one of the "new downtempo pioneers."
Most of the time he tours solo, and performing DJ sets, in 2014 Bonobo opted to follow the growing trend amongst electronic acts of playing with a full band. The band plays live renditions of studio material, with a singer, keyboardist, guitarist, saxophonist, string section, electronics, and drummer. His albums employ sampling, for example 'Behind the Light' (from Pick Up EP, 2003) uses a clip of 'Judy' from John Renbourn.
